During the second part of the prayer, strength is drawn from the thigh and calf muscles. It is especially important to concentrate on these muscles during sujud because this position requires considerable effort, especially in order to keep balance.
When we incline our head towards the ground during sujud, we are facing our own body. This position is unique because there are various points of focus on the body that are difficult to overlook due to its proximity.
The close proximity of these points combines with intense concentration to provide a unique opportunity for intense meditation which most often results in deep comfort and contentment for oneself as well as for those around them.
There are numerous benefits to be attained through proper sujud, especially in the Islamic tradition. According to the Qur’an, there are two types of sujud, one being for prayer while the other being for contentment.
These are characterised by their different verbal expressions during the act of sujud. Moreover, performing sujud is part of all daily prayers in Islam and should be done with every single raka’at regardless of whether it is Fajr or Maghrib.
This daily ritual should be done with concentration and devotion in order to reap its full benefits. Whatever good that might come out of this prostration is because Allah has willed it to come out of it. And whatever evils come out of it is because Allah has willed it to do so. Thus, whatever good comes out of this prostration, it is from Allah and whatever evil comes out of this prostration, it is from Allah.
This prayer always ends with "al-hamdu lillah". Therefore, we should not neglect to perform sujud. This brings us closer to the Almighty and we become more compassionate and compassionate towards others. This prayer is a lesson in itself and benefits us in numerous ways possible such as:
